好怪喔，不知為什麼，都沒辦法回覆留言，
wordpress出現小bug了......

I saw from Ed's blog that you can test the loading speed of your blog by entering your blog URL on Full Page Test_Pingdom Tools.

I mentioned before that my Wordpress is far faster than my Blogger, so I tested both of them and the results accord with my experiences. (It should be the speed from US, not from Taiwan.)

Blogger is free for users to change anything they want, but those changes decelerate the time of loading. I'd thought that it was due to the javascript codes, but, seeing from the chart (I didn't paste it here), those that take more time are *.gif or *.png files, which I uploaded to Google Page Creator (GPC). Blogger and GPC are both Google's services, but, ironically, Blogger is encumbered with GPC.

Comparison of my blogs:

幾天前寫了Wordpress vs. Blogger，現在又打算搬家了。
真是有點不好意思，一直在搬，
尤其是一直在Wordpress和Blogger之間來回。

之前姊姊和表姊都問我比較推薦哪一個BSP，
我那時毫不猶豫地說："Blogger"
不過，這幾天我又開始比較常用Wordpress，
覺得Wordpress用起來很順手。

Reasons I Chose Wordpress：

1. 速度。以前覺得Blogger速度比較快，
   但後來為了一些功能加了很多JavaScript，
   現在速度已經比Wordpress慢了，詳細原因請看Wordpress vs. Blogger。
   
2. 最新留言。在Blogger，我用的是堯提供的hack，利用Yahoo! Pipes做的，
   最近常常出包，經常只顯示"Loading..."，或根本一片空白，
   而且每次在讀網頁時，就是最新留言這部分最耗時間。
   在Wordpress，最新留言是預設的功能。
   
3. 留言介面。在Wordpress，留言區塊直接就在文章下方，
   沒有Wordpress帳號也可以留言。
   不像Blogger還會跑新的網頁，而且還有點醜 :p
   
4. BSP的用心。和很多人一樣，我之前一直很迷信Google，
   想說他的Google Search, Gmail, Earth, Calendar等都做的不錯，
   Blogger應該也會不錯，而且應該是最不可能倒的，
   但漸漸的才發現，Google一個個服務都做的不錯，但彼此之間的整合不好。
   而且Google的目標似乎是不斷擴充其版圖，每個領域都要參一腳，
   而個別服務的擴充，至少是Blogger，就進展的很慢，
   例如：預設模板幾乎沒在新增、標籤拖很久才做出來等等，
   感覺上，Google買下Blogger後，就不大管它了，
   也或許是仗著龐大的使用量和AdSense吧。
   Blogger最大的好處是很自由，幾乎什麼都可以改、可以新增，
   但對不熟悉語法的人來說，根本無從改起，這個好處跟沒有差不多，
   而加越多功能，速度就越會被拖慢。
   反觀Wordpress，其最大缺點就是Blogger的最大優點：自由度，
   在Wordpress，除非付費，不然連CSS都動不了，
   這對會語法的人來說，可能會覺得綁手綁腳的，
   但它的預設功能基本上是夠用的，不會語法的人可以用的很開心。

   不過，用Wordpress一段時間後，就會感受到其團隊的用心，
   在Wordpress.com News會不時看到有新增的模板或是新功能釋出，
   而且都是蠻漂亮的模版或不錯用的功能，
   不是一些無關緊要的新聞。

上述幾點是我比較在意的，以下完整整理Wordpress的特點：

1. 標籤可以一個以上，可選擇顯示標籤(可再選要羅列或下拉式選單)或標籤雲，也可以兩個都用
   
2. 有月曆，月曆可選擇從哪一天開始，例如禮拜天或禮拜一
   
3. 有Archive，可選擇羅列或下拉式選單
   
4. 文章可以加密隱藏
   
5. 有繼續閱讀
   
6. 可設定post slug，自訂文章網址
   
7. 可設定發表時間
   
8. 有最新文章、熱門文章、最新留言
   
9. 有pages
   
10. 可設定留言權限
    
11. 打文章時，會自動幫你存暫存檔
    
12. 在別的Wordpress blogs留言的話，可在自己的Dashboard看到紀錄，也可看到後續留言
    
13. 可設定寫文章時的區塊大小
    
14. 首頁可選擇顯示latest posts或static page
    
15. 整個blog可以設定閱讀權限
    
16. 提供很詳細的blog stats
    
17. 有feed stats：不過這個應該是計算Wordpress提供的feed，自己用FeedBurner燒的不算；沒用FeedBurenr的人可以看這個stats，有用FeedBurner的，去FeedBurner看就可以了 這個功能已退休，請見說明
    
18. 有Navbar，但只有在登入後才會看到，登入前看自己的、看別人的、別人看自己的，都不會有Navbar
    
19. 自動檔垃圾留言
    
20. 提供匯入、匯出
    
21. 可以有一個以上的blogs
    
22. 可以設定共同作者
    
23. 社群性強
    
24. 有Tag Surfer
    
25. 有很多設計精美的模板，持續增加中
    
26. 拖曳式編輯sidebar，另提供和其他服務的整合，目前有：del.icio.us, Flickr, Meebo, Box.net, Platial MapKit, Sonific SongSpot, Vod:Pod

(如果是Wordpress.org的話，那一定是大贏Blogger和Wordpress.com，有很多plugins可以加，模板比Wordpress.com還多更多。缺點是要花錢，且安全、穩定要自己維護。)

Wordpress vs. Blogger

I've written Wordpress vs. Blogger a few days ago, and now I move again. It's kind of embarrassing that I have switched between BSPs more than once, especially between Wordpress and Blogger.

Several days ago, my sister and cousin asked me which BSP do I prefer, I recommended Blogger without doubt.
However, I've recently started using Wordpress again,
and I am in love with it now.

Reasons I Chose Wordpress:

1. Speed.
   Original Blogger blogs are faster but lack lots of widgets, like "Recent Posts," "Recent Comments," "Calendar," and so on.
   Widgets are usually added by JavaScripts, which decelerate the loading speed.
   
2. Recent Comments.
   At Blogger, I use this hack, but it often breaks down, only showing "Loading" or just blank.
   And it takes much time to read the hack while loading.
   At Wordpress, Recent Comments is built-in
   
3. Comment System.
   At Wordpress, it's more convenient that the comment block is just below the post. And you can leave comments without Wordpress ID.
   At Blogger, it pops to a new window, which I think ugly.
   
4. BSP team and its features.
   I used to apotheosized Google, regarding that it did a good job at Search, Gmail, Earth, Calendar, etc, then Blogger should also be great.
   But gradually I found, Google is good at each service, but bad at integration of its services.
   Besides, Google seems to dabble at every field to expand its enterprise, but each of the services inches on the road of improvement, especially Blogger.
   For example, few new templates are added and it takes a loooooooooong time to have Labels.
   It makes me feel that Google just bought Blogger, then, whatever.
   The greatest advantage of Blogger is that users are free to change or add anything, HTML, CSS, JavaScript...
   but these become nothing for people who do not familiar with the codes and languages,
   and the more widgets you add, the slower the speed of loading.
   As to Wordpress, its greatest disadvantage is "no freedom to change the template," without paying, you can change nothing.
   But I think its built-in widgets are enough.
   Besides, Wordpress doesn't support JavaScript, please chick Javascript - can I use that on my blog? to see the reason.
   But you may feel the diligence and ardor of Wordpress team after a period of time that there are many new templates and widgets released every month.

Above are the reasons I moved from Blogger to Wordpress.
Below are all features of Wordpress:

1. Tags, either Tags or Tag Cloud is available and you can use both
   
2. Calendar, you can choose which day is the first day of the week
   
3. Archive, either List or Drop-down menu is available
   
4. Posts and Pages can be protected by password
   
5. "Read More" for Posts and Pages
   
6. Post Slug, you can name your posts
   
7. You can edit the time of publishing
   
8. Recent Posts, Recent Comments, Top Posts, Top Clicks
   
9. Pages
   
10. Automatically save while posting
    
11. You can decide whether people can comment or not
    
12. If you commented at other Wordpress blogs, you can see your and further comments at your Dashboard
    
13. You can define the size of the post box, changing while posting is available
    
14. You can choose either "latest posts" or "static page" to display at the front page of your blog

Note: What I mentioned at this post is Wordpress.com, not Wordpress.org.
(Wordpress.org is far better than Blogger and Wordpress.com that you may have lots of plugins and templates to choose. The disadvantages are: not free and you have to maintain the stability and safety by yourself.)

Wordpress vs. Blogger

While I was viewing "Blog Stats" this morning,

there comes a new incoming link, "Growing Blogs."

Wordpress.com chooses the most growing blogs everyday,

and my blog, amazingly and surprisingly, was chosen on May 20, 2007.

I didn't expect that one day my blog will be on the list.

Perhaps it's because of the previous entry "Wordpress vs. Blogger" and my comment on the new theme, Ocean Mist.

The growing blogs list or the high daily stats may be incentives to write,

but I will still maintain what I want to be.

Just write as I like, murmurs or hard issues, daily or monthly.

Besides, I have to go serve the military service,

my blog won't be updated often during that time.

So, just "Let it be."

之前寫過Wordpress和Blogger比較的文章 [比較 1] [比較 2]。

當時選Blogger的原因之一是因為可以改模板，
但每換一個新的模板，widgets都要全部重來一次，還蠻累的，微調倒是不錯玩，目前套用的是一個很簡潔的模板，沒什麼必要的widgets都拿掉了。Wordpress最大的缺點是完全不能改模板，連CSS也動不了，但它預設的模板整體比Blogger好看很多，而且一直有在更新，不像Blogger的萬年模板。

另一個原因是Blogger可以放JavaScript，
我在Blogger用JavaScript，大都是因為Blogger缺乏一些幾本功能，加越多，速度越慢。而這些，Wordpress都有，根本無須用到JavaScript，在速度上明顯比Blogger快很多，大約只要1/2至1/3的時間。

整體說來，就我的需求而言，目前我Blogger和Wordpress兩邊用到的功能差不多，在Blogger，大都要自己用JacaScript加，速度也因而變慢，而這些功能在Wordpress是預設的，不會托慢速度。

目前仍然維持兩邊同時發文的狀態。

幾天前把標籤雲拿掉了，因為覺得標籤之間的大小差太多了，不好看，
又改用原本預設的Labels，不過Labels落落長好長一串，也很占空間，
後來突然想到，可以用下拉式選單來放Labels，
這樣子的話，還可以和目錄、搜尋放在同一個網頁元素中。

下拉式選單怎麼做呢？

昨天都連不上Blogger，不過好像只有台大的IP連不上，
因為在PTT《Blog》板，其他人都說沒問題。


我用Blogger至今，好像第一次碰到當機這麼久的，
恢復之後，想改widgets，
竟然每改一個Firefox就當一次，很不順。


剛好最近又看到WordPress有些不錯的更新，
在考慮WordPress時，Blogger就在這時出包……

補記一下(利用Blogger的時間選項)

今天是本blog啟用100天紀念，
第10000天會在2034年2月7日，到時我就49歲了，
不知到時這個blog還在不在。

It has been almost two weeks since I stopped posting on WordPress, and I'm more used to use Blogger now. Reasons are:

1. I can edit HTML on Blogger; I can do nothing on WordPress without upgrading.
   
2. For so many times I use HTML to display pictures as links on WordPress, they failed to come out; so far, I succeed on Blogger.
   
3. Blogger supports javascripts; WordPress says they are dangerous.
   
4. Blogger loads pages far faster than WordPress does.
   
5. WordPress has "pages"; Blogger has not, but I can use posts as pages.
   
6. On WordPress, the category list becomes long s time goes; on Blogger, I can use Tag Cloud.
   
7. On Blogger, after clicking one month of the Archives or one tag of the Tag Cloud, there could be only the titles of the posts displayed. This helps a lot when I have lots of posts.
   
8. WordPress has built-in search box; Blogger has Navbar (it becomes more effieient now) and I can add Technorati or Google search myself.
   
9. WordPress has built-in "Read More"; Blogger doesn't, but I solved this problem.
   
10. On WordPress, I can use password to protect my posts; I can't do it on Blogger. But I realised later that "if I don't want others to see, why I post it".
    
11. WordPress has built-in spam blocker; Blogger doesn't, but I see no spams on my Blogger so far.
    
12. WordPress has calendar; Blogger doesn't, but I don't think it necessary for I have Tag Cloud and Archives. To me, I use Tags more than Calendar while viewing blogs.
    
13. WordPress has built-in blog stats; Blogger doesn't, I can add one, or more. For example, I have Site Meter, Shiny Stat, FastOnlineUsers, FeedBurner, and ClustrMaps; they are all so useful. Click here to see more tools I use on Blogger.
    
14. Links on WordPress are sorted alphabetically; on Blogger, I can arrange them as I like.
    
15. WordPress updates "Recent Comments" immediately; Blogger is not so fast, but it's still tolerable since I don't have many comments.
    

For a beginner, it's easier to use WordPress.
If you want to make any changes or have your unique style, Blogger will be a better choice.
The main reason I chose Blogger is that: I can do something to my blog!

當時因為spam離開無名，
真是慶幸，離開後，無名發生了好多事，
系統不穩、無預警地換個人首頁、好意幫學弟測試，
之前也傳過Yahoo要買，
也有一些部落客發現無名高層人事、持股變動......

今天的新聞讓我眼睛一亮，也稍稍恍然大悟，
一切可能都是有機可循的。

Yahoo!奇摩併無名小站 只待公平會點頭

台灣最大入口網站業者Yahoo!奇摩購併知名社群網站無名小站（Wrech.com）已成定局，合併案已經送交公平交易委員會審議，只待審議案通過，Yahoo!奇摩近日內就會宣布該消息。Yahoo!奇摩購併無名小站後，將穩居入口網站及社群網站龍頭地位，購併價格介於新台幣七億至八億。

由於Yahoo!奇摩的到達率超過九成，無名小站也是社群網站的龍頭業者，兩者都是台灣排名前三大的網路公司。因此，併購案要成立，依法令要先送公平會審議。

不過，Yahoo!奇摩併購無名小站是否成功，也有必須要克服和解決的問題。因為成立於一九九年的無名小站，在發展過程中遇到許多「貴人」的幫助，但現在也成為Yahoo!奇摩必須解決的議題。

無名小站在校園創業，利用交通大學的網路資源和機器設備，爾後商業化時，又因為頻寬太貴，受到和信超媒體的「照顧」，無名小站將機器設備架設在和信超媒體機房，並使用其頻寬，以無名小站每天的頻寬用量（3G）的情況來看，每個月的頻寬費用超過新台幣百萬，但因為無名小站剛起步，和信超媒體同意給予低廉的頻寬費用，但條件是未來無名小站要增資，和信超媒體有優先認股權。

因此Yahoo!奇摩購併無名小站一事，當務之急要解決的就是無名小站與和信超媒體的協議，據了解，和信超媒體免不了要追討這段期間內的頻寬使用費，另外，無名小站當初在商業化時，也允諾VIP付費會員有優先認股權。

Blogger beta的缺點：

1. 沒有 pages
2. 沒有站內文章搜尋
3. 文章不能密碼保護
4. 沒有「繼續閱讀」的功能
5. 沒有擋垃圾留言
6. 沒有 calendar
7. 留言更新不即時
8. 沒有內建的流量統計

WordPress.com 的缺點：

1. 不能編輯語法
2. 不支援 javascripts
3. 全部的 links 都被綁在一起，照字母排序，中間不能安插其他東西

4. 文章編輯不友善，即使修改HTML，呈現出來的仍然沒變

Sep. 13 才剛寫完部落格歷險記，

希望能在Wordpress定居，

沒想到，我又搬到Blogger了。

因為昨天在PTT的《Blog》板，

看到beagle2001和 szany說Blogger有分類功能了，

趕緊去找了一下，果真有找到，叫作Labels。

我這才發現到，分類功能應該是在我寫部落格歷險記之前就有的。

當初不要Blogger，就是因為它沒有分類功能，

現在有了，就回來吧。

而且它支援javascripts、自定欄位不限數目，

而Wordpress不支援javascripts、自定欄位只有9個。

Blogger還有一個優點：速度比Wordpress快很多。

我從2004年底開始接觸blog，

最先是用無名小站，因為大多數人都是用無名，

漸漸地發現，無名之外，還有好多其他的blog服務，

於是一個個都去嘗試。

無名之後，我用過樂多、天空、Xuite、新浪、Yahoo! 部落格、Pixnet，

中文之外，我也開始接觸起步比台灣早的Google提供的Blogger，

英文的blog hosts更多了：Blog-City、20-six、tBlog、Xanga、Yahoo! 360、MySpace、Blogsome……

在幾乎註冊玩所有的blog之後，

我決定回到無名，但是是金卡的無名，

免費的無名功能很少，金卡的無名則大致符合我當時的需求，

兩次付錢也剛好都有優惠活動，打5折，

但漸漸地，我越來越不喜歡無名商業化的作風，

而且，若要一直享有金卡會員的服務，累積下來也是需要不少錢的。

最重要的，讓我最後背離無名的原因，

是因為我的blog被不知名人士攻佔，

每天都新增10多篇留言，有語法、有德文、有英文，

煩不勝煩，終於讓我決定搬家。

搬家是今年暑假的事。

以免費為考量，淘汰到最後，

剩下天空、樂多、Pixnet、Blogger、20six、Blogsome、Wordpress。

天空：

優點：容量大，同時具備blog、相簿、留言板，功能很齊全。

缺點：網頁最上面有文字廣告，下方有圖片廣告。不穩定。另外，我不喜歡它的網址webs-tv的部份。

樂多：

優點：我不清楚，但很多人推薦樂多。

缺點：容量小。沒有相簿和留言板。速度慢。必須重新發佈。

Pixnet：

優點：接觸時間不長，一樣不清楚。

缺點：版面選擇的介面我不喜歡。

Blogger：

優點：PTT《Blog》板很多人推薦。彈性大。社群大。

缺點：沒有文章分類，我試著自己用，但都用不好，不過這是我個人問題。

20six：

優點：版面選擇上千種。介面清爽。速度快。有留言板。有pages。

缺點：原本一度決定要用20six了，才發現它空間很小，只有1MB。

Blogsome：

優點：以Wordpress為基礎，因此和Wordpress很像。

缺點：我發表一篇中文的文章，竟出現亂碼。

Wordpress：

優點：文章和連結都有分類功能，且可設定子分類。有pages。Sidebar Widgets很方便，可自由調整Sidebar的排序，和Xuite一樣可以直接拖曳做變動，另外，可以更改Title，像是可以更改 “Calendar” 成 “月曆”；也可新增自由欄位，支援HTML語法；還附有Flickr、del.icio.us，和Meebo。

缺點：版面沒有很多，但目前也有41種。不支援Javascripts，Wordpress有他們的理由，不過我不大懂。速度慢。

So, finally，我決定選擇功能還算齊全的Wordpress，它沒廣告，容量好像也不限制，支援中文，分類方便。相簿和留言板再另外寫pages，請看我的Gallery & Guestbook。
